First Impressions
The Xena II cooler is wrapped in a plastic covering and packaged in an eco-friendly (minimized packaged). The cable itself is not separated from the cooler and with no instructions or manual, the cooler was the only thing in the box. Though the cooler is made almost entirely of plastic, it had a distinct solid feel similar to other coolers designed with aluminum. Aesthetically, the sturdy black plastic draws similarities to the rugged Lenovo Thinkpad series notebooks.

We began toying with the all the user-adjustable settings and found it to work great at setting. While the cooler was in operation, we found it was on the quiet side and the 360 degree turn feature worked smoothly as advertized.

The Cooling Surface and Cooling System
On the top of the cooler, the actual cooling system is fused with the ergonomic viewing holder that allows your notebook to stand at different angles. Including the flat position there are a total of 5 angles at which this can be propped at.

The single fan located in the center runs not only quietly but also able to push an impressive CFM of cool air. Above the fan and to its left, you will find the USB cable storage mechanism where the cord wraps around and the head clips into a storage bay. It worked surprisingly well since many of these storage functions in other coolers are not the greatest.

On the front of the cooler there are two little feet that can be propped upwards; they are designed to hold the notebook up on the cooler.

The Sides
Both the left and right sides of the cooler are bare and do not offer any ports or features.

The Base and Back
The base of the Xena II is outfitted with a 360 degree rotatable base. It is one of the Xena II’s key features which helps offer those whom multitask or often show their display to others. The rubber feet that hold the rotatable base to the desk was firm and grips firmly while the swivel mechanism worked equally well, providing a smooth and effortless motion.

Benchmarks

Idle

As you can see it did a decent job cooling the notebook while idling, the HDD did not drop much as a result of the cooling system of our notebook.

load

It cooled fairly well considering it is a single 70mm fan design up against a powerful gaming notebook.  And once again the HDD did not drop much as a result of the cooling system of our notebook.

Portability
The Vizo Xena II is not ultra portable though it is still portable enough to be moved from when needed. It folds flat at about the thickness of a typical notebook. The cable packs away nicely keeping it all in one piece.

Conclusion
With a street-price in the mid $20s, Vizo has created a cooler that delivers not only an efficient cooling system, but also great practicality for those looking for additional ergonomics. With a constant cool flow of air and decent build we have no trouble looking past the plastic shell and would recommend the Xena II for those in the market for an office cooler.

Nice review! That gives some nice added elevation..:)

I have seen 3 reviews of this cooler and none mention whether it can actually be used comfortably on the lap. It doesn’t look like it from the picture of the bottom, but it would be nice if reviewers recognized that there is a sizable audience that actually uses laptops on their laps and took a minute to test it this way.

First off, take a chill pill. No need to dump 3 reviews anger on one site. That is quite low.

Secondly the reason the cooler is usually not tested for lap use is that Vizo has not marketed this cooler as a cooler for lap use, rather as a portable cooler.

As for lap use, its rather comfortable to use even with our 7pound+ Clevo M860tu. Good angle and decent comfort. The sides don’t really dig in.
