Packing dual adjustable fans the Vizo Mini Ninja II is a solid aluminum cooler. With a matte black paint job, sleek styling and 3 USB 2.0 ports it doesn’t lack much. The Mini is a half sized cooler but does make us question portability.

First Impressions
Following suit with other Vizo products we have reviewed the packaging is great. Encased in the double box, the cooler was bolstered by styrofoam. Inside we found the cooler, an instruction manual and a couple spare screws.

Once again we enjoyed the great build quality from Vizo. The entire cooler from the body to the mesh to even the casing for the fans is built out of aluminum. Like a brick it was solid enough to support an outstanding 75kg. We were unable to obtain anything heavier to test with.

As for the adjustable fan a tool (+ screwdriver) is required.

The Cooling Surface and Cooling System
The cooling surface is like the rest of the cooler solid aluminum. Keeping things interesting Vizo lathered the mesh in silver and accented the top with two sets of pinstripe imprinted lines. The black paint job is smooth to the touch and quite resilient to scratches.

The cooling system is quite simple. Like many coolers it sucks air in from the bottom while pushing it out the top. As simple as it is the Mini Ninja holds a twist; both fans are adjustable on the horizontally allowing optimum cooling effectiveness.

Both fans like the Ninja HS are nearly silent emitting a harmonious hum.

The Sides
On the right there are 3 USB 2.0 ports and a USB B input as well as a DC input. Moreover as usual the typing angle is stellar.

The Base and Back
On the base is where the adjustment comes into play. Each fan is mounted on a metal casing which is on a track. To adjust the location, there are four screws which must be loosened. From there you can adjust the fan on the horizontal axis and tighten the screws upon reaching the desired location

Unlike the HS the Mini does not use a tooless design; fortunately we prefer it as we do not have to worry about any wobble. The feet though small get the job done and prevent any sliding.

Benchmarks

Idle

The components towards the rear (GPU/CPU) cooled better due to fan location.

load

Once again the components towards the rear (GPU/CPU) cooled better due to fan location.

Portability
The Vizo Mini Ninja II is a half size cooler. However, this does not make it “portable” per say. With a maximum height of 4cm it’s a bit tall to carry around in a run of the mill notebook bag. It slots in as a cooler for those that would like to keep their desk sharp and minimalistic. It is not portable but it fits the bill better than a full size cooler.

Conclusion
Once again we are pleased by Vizo’s build, design, and ingenuity. Built like a rock and sporting a dozen features from adjustability to three USB 2.0 ports we found the Mini Ninja II to be a decent option for those wanting a semi-portable cooler.
