Previously, we have had the opportunity to review a few Choiix coolers; however, this time we have something a bit different, the Choiix Trifunctional Travelpad. Combining the properties of a mouse pad and a microfiber cloth Choiix has created a versatile, valuable tool for any notebook owner.

In typical Choiix fashion, packaging was kept to a minimum: a clear sleeve containing the Travelpad.   The Travelpad is designed for three main purposes: protect your notebook on the go, keep your notebook clean, and keep your mouse accurate.

Microfiber Cloth

The top surface of the Travelpad is manufactured from microfiber. Microfiber refers to synthetic fibers that measure less than one denier. Known for its softness, and absorption properties, microfiber is often used to clean notebook displays, and glossy surfaces.

The microfiber surfacing on the Travelpad in our case was more effective at cleaning glossy surfaces than an average microfiber cloth. Rather than just rubbing the oil around, the Travelpad was actually able to absorb and remove the oil from the surface. To get rid of the dust and grease it is possible to just wash the pad with water.

Mouse Pad

As a mouse pad the Travelpad did not excel. Although acceptable for “on the go” situations the pad may be on the small side unless you are a high sensitivity mouse user. The microfiber qualities create a sense of inertia that may become a nuisance over time. Additionally, due to its thin profile it is only useful as a mouse pad on a solid surface. On the positive side the rubber base holds the pad solidly to the surface it is being used on.

Protection

When travelling with a notebook in a bag many users run into the issue that the screen is being pressured against the keyboard leaving an imprint of the keyboard on the screen. Choiix has tackled the issue by combining the properties of the microfiber fabric and a mouse pad. At one millimeter (0.039 inches) thick the Travelpad easily slips between any notebook, consequently, protecting the screen from any permanent damage.

Conclusion

Bringing together solutions to many inconveniences of a notebook, such as markings on the screen to fingerprints on the lid. The Choiix Trifunctional Travelpad is simple, effective and a must have accessory for any notebook owner who frequently uses his/her notebook on the go. At 5$ it is essentially a mouse pad on steroids.
