CeBIT 2010 Highlights: Peripherals Part II

Cebit Yesterday we brought you the first part of our CeBIT 2010 highlights.  Today we will continue showcasing the latest peripherals released by companies such as Steelseries and Choiix.

Choiix

Power Fort

Power FortExpanding their horizons Choiix has entered the mobile market with the Power Fort. Ultra slim in design the Powerfort provides 10Wh of battery charging power for mobile devices such as mobile phones, GPS devices, and portable music players. To speed up charging by up to 30%, the USB port puts out 1 A, thus, doubling the usual 0.5 A.

123Swapper

choiix_123swapperAs simple as counting 1,2,3 the 123Swapper lets you swap your external 2.5” hard drives up to 500GB. To insert a hard drive simply pull off the cover and slide it in, this toolless design makes it easy for those with multiple drives to quickly swap them. The interior of the enclosure has rubber washers to provide basic protection against shocks. The cover alone can be used as a SATA HDD USB adapter. Currently it is only available with a USB 2.0 connection though it is rumored that the 123Swapper is set to adopt an eSATA port in the near future.

CardPal

choiix_cardreader The CardPal is a compact USB 2.0 card reader. Measuring 75 x 23 x 16 mm, the card reader is about the size of a large USB thumb drive. It has four slots; the first can read MS / MS Pro / MS Duo cards. The other slots can read SD / Mini SD / MMC / SDHC / SDXC / T-Flash and Sony M2 cards.

Choiix Cruiser Mouse Pack

Choiix_mouse_1 The Cruiser Mouse Pack comes with a three button mouse and waterproof precision mouse pad. The mouse dubbed the Cruiser is designed to be ergonomic and portable. With the simple scroll of a dial on the base the height of the rear section of the mouse for comfort. It has a 2.4G sensor with 1600 dpi and an automatic sleep mode with on/off battery management. To keep things portable it features a plug and play nano receiver.

Eco Mousepad

The final product, Choiix’s Eco Mousepad, shows off the creativity of Choiix. Instead of a boring old pattern Choiix has hidden 20 animals on the surface of the mouse pad. Can you find all 20?

A-DATA Releases the NH01 and N002

Joining the competition A-DATA has begun releasing USB 3.0 Products. The NH01(left) is the houses a 2.5” SATA hard drive with up to 640GB of capacity. It has both USB 3.0 and eSATA connectivity options and will be available in multiple colors.

The NH01 wasn’t the only one to join the A-DATA family at CeBIT. Added was also the N002 Combo drive (right) which houses a 2.5” SATA II SSD to take full advantage of the USB 3.0 and eSATA connectors.

Steel Series

Renown for bringing forth only the best, SteelSeries showed up to CeBIT with a couple new additions: the 7H headset and 6Gv2 keyboard.

7H Headset

The SteelSeries 7H headset is driven by dual 50mm drives in the ear-cups to deliver a 3D sound experience. Its cups are designed with two choices of padding designed to either block out background noise or allow it to flow through.

In the name of portability the 7H headset separates into parts. Both cups can be separated from the top band. Moreover the cable can be disconnected and the built in mic is retractable. This not only increases the portability of the headphones but also helps protect your investment.

It will be available in both standard and USB versions. The USB version will be offered with optimized sound profiles for game genres, customizable environmental settings and feature 7.1 virtual surround sound. It will be available in Q2 2010.

6Gv2 Gaming Keyboard

The 6Gv2 is the latest keyboard to pop out of SteelSeries R&D (Research & Development). Sharing similarities with the 7G, the new keyboard utilizes a buffer-system designed specifically for gaming with a mechanical tactical system. It supports as many simultaneous key presses as there are keys on the keyboard. Further, it comes 18-karat gold-plated mechanical switches for quicker reaction times and advanced key combinations

Proving its quality and durability the keyboard is designed to last 10 times that of conventional keyboards. That means 10 to 50 million total keystrokes. The keyboard also features media controls allowing quick access to volume amongst other audio controls.

The keyboard will be retailing for around $108 and will be available in Q2 2010.

OCZ Introduces budget Minded Onyx Series SSD

Onyx1_2 OCZ has been in the SSD industry since the beginning. They have provided enthusiasts looking to push performance to the next level with high performance SSDs and now they finally developed a sub $100 priced SSD. Currently it is only available with 32GB of space but expect larger capacities in the future. Access times are up to 125MB/s read and 70MB/s write with 64MB of onboard cache. To ensure that the drive lasts OCZ provides 3 years of warranty and technical support.
