image001 The Enermax Aeolus N14 was first debut back at Computex 2009. Finally it has reached the consumer market and we will find out if the wait was worth it. Fitting right in with the rest of the Aeolus lineup, the N14 is one of the ‘sexiest’ coolers on the market.

It is the latest cooler to join the growing netbook cooler battle and it comes fully loaded: it packs a 140mm fan with four blue LEDs and is composed of plastic and aluminum.

image013 In 2009 there were an estimated 41 million notebooks sold in the United States. Many of those notebooks sold do not support USB 3.0、 the latest standard for the universal serial bus boasting up to 10x the speed of USB 2.0. Even though it is backwards compatible, you will not reap the benefits of added speed unless you use a USB3.0 specific port.

Fortunately thanks to 3rd party peripheral manufacturers such as Vantec there are methods to “update” your notebook. The Vantec 2-Port SuperSpeed USB 3.0 ExpressCard/34 slots into your notebook’s ExpressCard slot and provides two USB 3.0 ports.

image005 The majority of you will know Scythe for cooling products, namely fans; over in Japan though they are known for much more. Our editor in Japan got a hold of Scythe’s newest hard drive enclosure, which supports the latest USB 3.0 technology. This is our first review of the most recent revision of the universal serial bus, which is set to perform 3X or greater in comparison to USB 2.0. This makes the hard drive itself the bottleneck and not as much the transfer hardware.
